Training and coaching leaders in change Bosch
As the offshore market collapsed over the past years, Bosch Rexroth needed to revise its strategy. The technology company’s new strategy aims for sustainable growth by introducing measures to increase organisational excellence and by investing in innovation.
The success of this strategy largely depends on how employees adapt their ways of working. Where can they improve efficiency and become more cost-effective? And even more important, how can they do that?
Every change needs leaders, both formal and informal leaders. Leaders that promote the vision, adjust their own ways of working, stimulate others to participate and support others to develop. It is not a given that all leaders understand their role, neither that they are capable of fulfilling this role in the process of change and communications.
We supported the management board and middle and lower management in this change process. Under our leadership, the management board jointly determined what should be done - as a team and as individual leaders - to turn this new strategy into a success.
We developed a communication training for middle management, with two goals: to gain further insights in personal leadership and communication styles and in the general style of the team. We used Insights Discovery assessments and a team coaching session.
We also developed a training for the lower management, focused on conversation techniques: how to deal with difficult questions or with various emotions from team members. Several leaders felt ‘out of their comfort zone’ during the sessions, yet all leaders agreed that these sessions made them much more capable in leading change.
