Public has high level of trust in the media
The public’s trust in the media is higher in the Netherlands than in most other countries. This was one of the findings in a survey conducted by the PEW Research Center.
Out of the ten countries surveyed, Dutch media came out on top. PEW Research surveyed 41,953 respondents worldwide.
Eighty-nine percent of the respondents in the Netherlands said that the coverage of the most important stories ranged from reasonable to very good. The European average is approximately 68 percent. Eighty-two percent of Dutch people believe that news organisations present the news accurately, while 74 percent hold the opinion that all differing points of view on political topics are presented fairly.
